Axion Hellas at the Delphi Economic Forum

The Axion Hellas team was represented at the Delphi Economic Forum by its President, Aliki Drakouli, as part of the Health thematic session.

During her speech, she highlighted the reality that the Axion Hellas team encounters in remote areas:

"The most common need we come across is access to preventive healthcare examinations. In remote areas, we are not only talking about a shortage of doctors, but also about a lack of prevention. We meet people who have gone years without basic medical check-ups, people waiting for a mission like Axion Hellas to see a specialist. That is when you realize that distance is not measured in kilometers; it is measured in opportunities. This delay in prevention has serious consequences. Diseases that could have been diagnosed early often reach more advanced stages. And ultimately, one comes to realize that prevention is not what costs us; what truly costs us is its absence."

She also spoke about the role of partnerships and the importance of collective action:

"Greece has a unique geographical diversity. But this beauty also creates challenges. Our role is by no means to replace the State. We strongly believe in partnerships — with public institutions, foundations, and civil society. The solution is not one organization acting alone, but collaboration. Real change happens when the State sets the framework, the private sector invests strategically, the diaspora gives back value, and civil society acts as a bridge."

The panel also included, among others, Lilian Venetia Vildiridi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, and Theodoros Vasilakopoulos, President of EODY.

This participation further reinforces the message behind every Axion Hellas mission: to be present where the need is real, transforming distance into access
