19th Mission: Ereikoussa – Othonoi – Mathraki – Paxoi
Axion Hellas successfully completed its 19th mission from September 30 to October 5, 2025, reaching the Diapontia Islands — Othonoi, Mathraki, and Ereikoussa — as well as Paxoi.
More than 100 volunteers, including doctors, educators, and partners, joined forces to support the residents of these islands, located at the northwesternmost tip of Greece, offering medical care, educational programs, and cultural activities.
On the islands, multispecialty clinics operated with 22 medical specialties, addressing a wide range of needs — from pediatric and cardiology care to gynecological, ophthalmological, and mental health services.
Specifically, residents received examinations from the following specialties:
Allergology • Gynecology (Pap test, Ultrasound) • Dermatology • Endocrinology (Thyroid Ultrasound) • Cardiology (Cardiac Triplex, ECG) • Breast Clinic / Breast Surgery / Breast Ultrasound • Neurology • Dentistry • Orthopedics • Urology • Ophthalmology • Internal Medicine • Pediatrics • Pediatric Endocrinology (Childhood Obesity Clinic) • Pediatric Ophthalmology • Pulmonology (Spirometry) • Ultrasound of Body / Organs / Vessels • Surgery • Mental Health • ENT • Audiology • Physiotherapy.
In total, 2,725 medical examinations were carried out across 22 specialties, benefiting 632 island residents. The maritime team covered 600 nautical miles using four vessels, ensuring safe transport and accessibility to all islands.
During these visits, one woman expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that each medical test in Corfu would have cost her at least €600, emphasizing how meaningful Axion Hellas’s presence was for her community.
In collaboration with institutions such as the Hellenic Police, Olympic Truce, the Hellenic Olympic Academy, and the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation, students of all ages took part in educational programs focused on internet safety, the value of diversity, marine environmental protection, and theatrical creativity. Additional first-aid seminars and AI workshops for both children and adults were also held.
The award-winning theater group TOPI accompanied the mission to Paxoi, where it presented an interactive play inspired by the Grimm Brothers’ tales, delighting local schoolchildren with humor and imagination.
In total, six educational and cultural programs were implemented, involving 355 children and 67 adults.
The 19th Mission left a lasting artistic mark on Paxoi, where internationally renowned street artist CacaoRocks created a mural inspired by the sea and the Ionian culture.
Like every previous mission, this initiative proves that targeted social contribution can transform daily life in Greece’s most remote communities. With the same passion and unwavering commitment to its vision of giving, Axion Hellas renews its promise for the next journey of solidarity — wherever its presence truly matters.
