Vassilis Pateras

Vassilis Pateras studied shipping at Morley College in London and Business Administration at the American College of London and currently works in the maritime industry. He has served in the Hellenic Navy SealTeams. He is an offshore world champion of the Round Britain 2008 Power Boat Race and a record holder of the Round of Britain. Vassilis Pateras was ranked 6thin the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC 2011), a well-knownTransatlantic Sailing Race. He has been actively involved in volunteering since 2007 as a rib skipper in the Aegean islands and as fleet commander in charity missions since 2014.

Melina Travlos

President & CEO of Neptune Lines Shipping and Managing Enterprises S.A, offering transportation and shipping solutions for all vehicle manufacturers and major Logistics companies. Melina Travlos also serves as Secretary of the BoD of the Union of Greek Shipowners, President of the Executive Committee of Malta International Shipowners Association, Member of the Executive Committee of the Greek Chamber of Shipping, Member of Board of Directors of DNV-GL Greek Committee, Member of Board of Directors of Hellenic Mutual War Risks Association (Bermuda) Limited, Member of the Board of Trustees of Northeastern University, and Honorary Danish Consul in Piraeus. She holds a degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, and is fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish. Melina Travlos is also actively involved in volunteer work, and she is the founding member of Axion Hellas.

Aigli Zellou

Dr. Zellou completed her medical degree at Georgetown University, where she also received her specialty in Pediatrics. She also received the sub-specialty of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and her PhD from the Medical School of the University of Athens. She currently works at the Pediatric Clinic of “Agia Sophia”, where she is responsible for liver diseases and liver transplants. Dr. Zellou is the head of the Children’s Gastroenterology Department of “Mitera” Hospital. Over the past four years she has been volunteering as a pediatrician in the Aegean Islands.

Dorotheos Samoladas

Dorotheos Samoladas is a corporate lawyer, co-managing partner of the Greek law firm Sarantitis, since 2004. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens and has also completed post-graduate studies in commercial law in the University of Southampton in the UK. He is ranked as a recommended Greek business lawyer, by all major international legal directories (Chambers, Legal500, Best Lawyers). According to the research of, he was selected by his colleagues as Lawyer of the Year 2013, for Athens, in the practice area of Mergers & Acquisitions. During his free time, Dorotheos Samoladas spends a vast amount of time volunteering in Axion Hellas as a general secretary.

Fotini Binios

Fotini is the president of Attiki Anaplasi since 1995, supporting a wide range of real estate services throughout the years.
Fotini has studied Business Administration and Management at Piraeus University with a specialization in Marketing. She pursued her second degree in Fine Arts at Athens School of Fine Arts since aesthetics is a pivotal aspect of her job.
Since 1997 she has been involved to various self-knowledge activities and has developed an increased understanding of human systems dynamics.
Fotini is a founding member of Axion Hellas and is responsible for the educational and cultural projects of the organization.


Effy Stratakis

Effy Stratakis holds a BA in Psychology from Amherst College in Massachusetts and an MBA from London Business School. After her graduation in 2010 she joined the family business where she is currently the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Officer. She also continues to work in the capacity of an Investment Advisor to the family office, with a focus on Angel Investing.
In parallel, Effy serves on the Board and is an active member of Desmos Non Profit Foundation ( Since 2012 she has represented her family on the Charity Branch of the Union of Greek Shipowners, and as of 2018 she sits on the Board of its’ spinoff, Syn-enosis, which is the Greek Shipowners’ Social Welfare Company ( Finally, she is a member of the board of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP)

Ioanna Martinou

Ioanna Martinou is a graduate of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (Athens College). She studied Art History at Tufts University and the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts.
She is currently involved in her family’s shipping business, where she leads the company’s various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
She also volunteers on the Greek Shipowners’ Social Welfare Company (SYN-ENOSIS) Committee, and has been actively involved as a volunteer with Axion Hellas since 2017.

HRH Prince Nikolaos

Prince Nikolaos is a graduate of International Relations from the Brown University in the United States. During his studies, he served for one year in the British Army as a second lieutenant of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Cavalry Regiment. He has extensive experience in banking, communications and business consulting. From an early age, he has recently dedicated himself to photography and has completed several photo exhibitions in London, Doha and Melbourne. Prince Nicholas is a member of the Board of Directors of Knightsbridge Schools International, which was founded in 2008 to develop and operate a network of international schools around the world. He has been an active member of Axion Hellas since its inception.
