6th Mission: PSARA – VOLISSOS CHIOS 19.09 – 23.09.2018

Prominent in their promise, Axion Hellas volunteers for the second time offered their valuable services to the residents of northern Chios in the municipality of Amani and Psara during the 6th Crossing that took place in the northern Aegean islands.

The large group of volunteers, consisting of 45 doctors, 10 nurses, 47 general volunteers and 24 people participating in cultural events, despite the difficult weather conditions, originally arrived in Psara where they offered their services to 130 inhabitants of the border island. The trip continued in northern Chios and specifically in Volissos, where about 500 residents received the care of the volunteers.

Axion Hellas in its sixth mission has collaborated with major organizations, foundations and companies such as “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation” , the “Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation”, the “Cyber Crime Division of the Hellenic Police”, as well as “Mazi gia to Paidi” association, the “Prolepsis” nutrition institute, “WWF”,  the Greek Marine Environment Protection Association “HELMEPA”, the augmented and virtual reality technology company “MORTIL” and the “International Olympic Truce Center” in order to inform, entertain and educate children and parents living in these remote areas. Once again, “Orama Elpidas” Association was there to inform the residents on how to become bone marrow donor volunteers and save lives and last but not least the Non-Profit Organization “MANA”, which offers free supportive care services by skilled professionals with experience in taking care cancer patients, helping women who have experienced the disease to reconnect smoothly to everyday life.

As part of Axion Hellas’s parallel actions, it was the fully renovation of the military outpost of Psara, with the substantial sponsorship of Mr. Athanasios Martinos and Mrs Melina Travlos, which was handed over by the president of Axion Hellas Vassilis Pateras, in the presence of the head of the National Defense General Staff, Admiral Evangelos Apostolaki.
